- Valid Driver’s License
- Possess their own hand tools (as listed in Laborer job description)
General Job Description
Performs installation work, in a team environment, on commercial plumbing projects. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures, piping, and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary correction action using appropriate parts and tools. Complies with all required safety, building code, and inspection requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions. Maintains clean and organized workspace, as well as inventory and daily maintenance inspection of company vehicle while in use. May be required to complete formal training in area of specialty. Has attained full proficiency of commercial installation process rough to finish. At entry level, manages 1-3 subordinate staff in the day to day performance on a single, small, commercial job site. At a higher experience level, may manage 5+ subordinate staff in the day to day performance on a single, larger, commercial job site). Works under supervision of division manager.
Competencies / Skills
At entry-level, this position is capable of the following:
- (Including all skills listed under Residential Plumbing Mechanic)
- Able to run one (1) small commercial project without supervision (CVS, strip mall, etc.)
- Able to measure, lay out, and execute under slab rough-in off a blueprint
- Capable of supervising and providing training for multiple Helpers on the jobsite
- Communicate and help to manage scheduling with jobsite subordinates, inspectors, and builders
- Order and manage material inventory, as needed, to keep job on track
- Strong customer service skills
- Take all service calls when needed
At a more experienced level, this position is capable of the following:
- Able to run one (1) larger commercial project (hotel, medical, or multi-story project with minimal supervision)
- Capable of supervising and providing training for multiple Laborers, Helpers, and Mechanics on the job site
- Order material inventory from prints to get the project started
- Organize and manage material inventory, as well as equipment inventory, to keep job on track
- Attend job site meetings, inspections, and job site walkthroughs as needed
- Able to troubleshoot and solve on-site mechanical problems without supervision
